Is the Financial Management and Comptroller job a good position in the Air National Guard?
I currently have a 4 year accounting degree and have a full time job as an accountant. I want to join the ANG, but don't know if I want to continue doing finance/accounting stuff outside my job. Not sure if I should do this job with the ANG or not. If anyone out there knows anything about the Financial Management and Comptroller position within the ANG I would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

- ANG Finance jobs are the same as a civilian accounting job in about 90% of the duties. You will process orders/pay/travel reimbursements as your duties and take care of people's pay. Do something completely different than what you do in the civilian world. My wife and I are both in the ANG and here is our situation. Me.... Manufacturing Engineer in the civilain world....in the ANG I am a flight Equipment specialist and was a former B-1 Bomber Fuels Tech and I am getting ready to cross train to be a TACP. Wife...... Recreation Therapist w/ masters degree.........In-flight refueler(Boom Operator) in the ANG. I would never want to do engineering on my "weekend job" with the ANG....its fun to have a broad skill-set that takes you out of your comfort zone once a month and a few weeks a year. My opinion, do something different, as you can choose to do what you want as long as you meet the ASVAB score and physical profile. Email me for more info if you want.
